A privacy-first tool that turns your camera settings into clean, fully customisable overlays for your photos. Built for photographers to share their settings consistently without paid tools or locked features.
EXIF Overlay was built to solve a common problem: sharing camera settings in a clean, consistent, and customisable way, without needing to rely on paid tools, locked features, or online processing.
Like many photographers, I’d seen others using camera settings summaries with some built into websites, some paid, and many with limited customisation. They worked, but never quite how I wanted. So I built my own.
It’s designed to be simple, fully customisable, privacy-first, usable offline, and nothing is locked behind a paywall.
Locally. All processing happens locally on your device's browser. Your images are never uploaded to a server, keeping your creative work private.
Partially. AI (Specifically Google's Gemini), was used in the creation of this tool, however had no decision in the technologies, services, features, or design elements of the tool. No data entered by this tool, will be used or seen by AI under any circumstance.
We only collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the tool. This includes:
No personal data, images, or EXIF information is ever collected. .
Missing metadata is not a problem. If an image has no embedded EXIF, all fields remain fully editable. You can enter values manually, toggle specific fields on/off, and customise the style as normal.
You can upload up to 30 images at once. The tool reads data for all of them simultaneously, allowing for consistent batch styling.
EXIF Overlay is available as a Website at exifoverlay.com.
Mobile/Desktop Apps:
At EXIF Overlay, privacy is a must. I believe your creative data should stay where it belongs: with you.
This Privacy Notice explains how I, Adlai Dyson | Fused Frame Photography, manage information through the EXIF Overlay application at exifoverlay.com. I operate in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
EXIF Overlay is a client-side application. This means your photos never leave your device.
Images are read locally by your browser. I never upload, store, or see your original creative works.
Metadata is extracted on your CPU. No camera settings or GPS data is transmitted to my servers.
To improve the tool and understand how it is used, I collect minimal, anonymous usage statistics using Umami, a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics platform (analytics.adffp.uk).
Under UK GDPR, I process anonymous analytics data based on Legitimate Interests. This allows me to maintain the website, monitor performance, and ensure the service remains functional without collecting personal data.
Since I do not collect personal data (names, emails, or images), there is no personal data to retain. Anonymous analytics are kept for 24 months to monitor usage trends before being aggregated.
Even though I don't store your personal data, you still have rights under UK law. If you have any questions regarding this notice or the way I handle information, please reach out.
